Balancing Work and Play: Best Remote-Friendly Cafes Near Station 250

April 1, 2026
Cup of coffee on table at cafeWorking from home has a way of turning your home into an office and an office into a home. You work from the couch or kitchen table, and it loses appeal after you sit back down again for dinner. It’s nice to step outside and work somewhere with a decent setup and, hopefully, a decent cup of coffee. Station 250 residents have a head start on available work-from-home spaces with access to coworking areas, private offices, conference rooms, and a business center. All available within their complexes, designed for those who work from home.

Some days, you might feel like leaving your building and exploring the neighborhood. When you do, you’ll come across some amazing local spots that are great places to grab a cup of coffee and settle in. For the days you need a change of scenery, here’s where we suggest-

Area Coffee

Just a short walk from Station 250, Area Coffee is a social hub of downtown Mundelein. Go there enough, and the staff will know your order. Community-driven and warm, you can set up shop for hours without interruption. This trendy spot serves hand-crafted espresso drinks and baked goods, as well as ice cream, frozen drinks, and other treats. We highly recommend their horchata latte and the banana pecan muffins – both fan favorites that keep people coming back again and again. With a popular outdoor area in the summertime, Area Coffee regularly hosts open mic nights, group gatherings, and more. Their website has rave reviews, and their customers come back time and time again for their amazing service and unique menu.

Hansa Coffee

A short drive from Station 250 lives Hansa Coffee, worth the effort of putting on pants and leaving your home. Their converted, garage-style space feels both homey and inviting, as well as industrial and modern. With a large, open coworking space, it’s the perfect place to get some things done. The real draw, though, is the coffee.

According to their website, “Hansa Coffee Roasters is a quality-driven roaster and retailer based in Libertyville, IL. We specialize in coffees sourced from small, quality-focused families and cooperatives around the world. We strive to find the best coffees and showcase them in the seasons they are at their freshest. We provide our staff with world-class training in manual brewing, espresso theory, and technical understanding of the coffee industry”.

The Office Clubhouse

If you need someplace to work consistently or an office to bring clients to, Station 250 has access to the clubhouse for rental, a place where you can work and call it your own. With high-speed internet, printing, meeting rooms, and excellent coffee, the pricing is well below the coworking brands that are out there.

Open weekdays only, this is the perfect spot for someone with an 8-5 who is looking to be free from distraction and have an office all to themselves. One of their top reviews on Google says, “Can’t say enough good things about this place. Mac was awesome, so friendly and ready with tasty beverages throughout the day. Plenty of space, quiet, and fantastic prices. My wife and I worked there all day long to give my parents and the grandkids some time together. We will absolutely return without any hesitation!” And that’s all there is to say.

Tala Coffee Roasters

Also in Libertyville, you can visit both Tala and Hansa in the same trip – if you can handle the caffeine. Smaller and cozier than Hansa, this place still serves a seriously good cup of coffee. They roast onsite and have a rotating menu with monthly updates to their coffee favorites. Recently, they have added breakfast items to their menu, which makes it the ideal morning spot for those who wake up and want to start work early. They’re known for their flavorful and bold roasts, and have something for everyone. A few roast highlights from their website:

Danger Zone Blend

“It’s perfect for those looking for a “strong” or “bold” coffee. We ride this coffee right into the “danger zone” (cue Maverick and Goose dogfighting in jet planes) while roasting, and take it darker than any of our other coffees.”

Carlos Cadena: Veracruz, Mexico

“It’s crisp, incredibly clean, and bursting with bright, fruit-forward character, showcasing just how refined and expressive modern natural processing has become. The result is a radiant, transparent cup where lively sweetness and clarity shine, and the inherent flavors of the coffee take center stage.”

Amoret Espresso Blend

“Amoret Espresso Blend is our foundation for milk-based and espresso drinks. This exciting ensemble of Honduras, Guatemala, and Costa Rica coffees creates an immensely creamy and sweet, balanced, and intriguing backdrop for cappuccinos and lattes.”
