Mundelein is no different, packing the town’s schedule with fun and exciting events for the whole family. There’s so much to do and see this summer, you don’t want to miss any! Here’s a short list of the best things happening in and around Mundelein this summer.
Mundelein Community Days
Mundelein Community Days is a huge festival returning this year over the 4th of July. According to the Daily Herald, “The four-day celebration of the best of Mundelein includes carnival rides, fireworks, a parade, food, music, and more. Most events take place in Kracklauer Park, 116 N. Lake St., Mundelein. Carnival hours will be 2-11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2-8 p.m. Sunday. The Mundelein Munch will offer food from local vendors from noon to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. They will also feature musical performances and a fireworks show on Thursday to celebrate the holiday. Don’t miss this local favorite!
Concerts in the Park
Every Sunday from May 25th to August 17th, Kracklauer Park hosts a concert series featuring local bands, orchestras, and artists from Mundelein and beyond. This is the perfect spot to spend a Sunday evening with friends, lie out on a blanket, and enjoy the nice weather and entertaining tunes.
Beach Bash at Diamond Lake
Grab your swimsuits, sunscreen, and your whole family for the epic Beach Bash at Diamond Lake. The hotter it gets, the more you will wish this bash was every weekend. MundeleinParks.org says, “Whether you want to ride the inflatable water slide, go low on the limbo, or just kick back and relax, we’ve got a tidal wave of fun planned for you! The day will be filled with music, face painting, crafting, and more! This is a FREE event open to all ages, so bring your beach chairs, pack a picnic, grab some towels, and channel your best summer vibes. You’re gonna want to join this summer starter!
Mundelein Arts Festival
This two-day event brings out artists and art lovers alike for a festival of amazing paintings, sculptures, and handmade artifacts. Taking place at the end of summer, this event is beloved locally. Mundelein Community Connection puts on quite a competition with a “juried art festival that will showcase the unique talents of 50 fine artists who work in a variety of media. The two-day event will be held from 10 am to 5 pm daily and will feature top-notch artists, local musicians, and tasty food. In addition to professional artists, The Mundelein Fine Arts Festival will also highlight artwork by select students from Carmel Catholic and Mundelein High Schools”.
Mundelein Grand Prix
If you enjoy spectating, the Mundelein Grand Prix is the perfect place to post up and join in watching participants take part in this amateur and professional bike race. Traveling through downtown Mundelein, take a seat and enjoy the racers as they fly through.
Mundelein Farmers Market
Every Saturday in Mundelein, people come together to put on one of the best farmers’ markets in the suburbs. Featuring 50+ vendors, you can get everything from produce and groceries to plants, artisan cheeses and meats, hot food, coffee, household goods, and more. If you’re a fan of shopping locally and supporting small businesses, this is the perfect opportunity to ditch Amazon and become a regular patron of your local farmers market.
Park on Park Cruise Night
If you’re a fan of classic cars, Mundelein is one of the only suburbs around that hosts cruise nights for those to show off their prized possessions. “Park-on-Park is an annual event sponsored by Mundelein Community Connection (MCC), a Mundelein Downtown Promotional organization”. And this year, they have extended admissions to cruise night to include all cars and trucks made before 2001. They’re excited for this extension, stating that it “should attract more car participation, visitor attendance, and attract a new generation of car enthusiasts.”
If you have a special antique car you love to show off, or just want to take a peek at the cars your neighbors love, don’t miss cruise night, taking place every other Wednesday through September 10th.
